Stella M. Holmes
Stella Holmes is a Cultural Storyteller, Art Consultant, and Philanthropist whose work explores how art and cross-cultural encounters can create understanding, connection, and dialogue.
Based in Miami, Stella is the Founder and President of The Brickellian, a fine arts consulting firm where listening comes first. Through The Brickellian, she works with private and corporate clients, artists, galleries, collectors, institutions, and organizations to develop thoughtful artistic and cultural projects. Her work brings together art consulting, partnerships, education, project facilitation, and special events, connecting people and ideas to create meaningful experiences.
Formally educated in art history, Stella brings a deep understanding of art and culture together with years of experience across artistic and international communities. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami, Artes Miami and the Japan-America Society of South Florida. She is also a former trustee of Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens and Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, where she was appointed to the board by the Mayor of the City of Miami. The Stella M. Holmes Research Center, established at the Lowe Art Museum, recognizes her longstanding contribution to the arts and cultural community.
Her experience as an award-winning filmmaker further informs her approach to storytelling. Through documentary projects, Stella interviews artists, cultural practitioners, and members of different communities, exploring their work, traditions, histories, and personal perspectives. Her documentary work includes West Encounters East: Japanese Brazilians and The Fragility of Tradition, as well as A Journey to the Soul of Guna Yala for ArtLab @ The Lowe at the University of Miami and a Kōgei mini-documentary for the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. She is currently in production on A Moment, the latest film in her ongoing exploration of art, culture, and human connection.
Across her work, Stella brings together art, storytelling, and human connection, creating opportunities for people and communities to encounter different perspectives and engage with the stories and traditions that shape them.
