About Us

The Brickellian, based in Miami, is an umbrella organization that includes a production company specializing in documentary films, a fine-arts consultancy, a quarterly newsletter, and the curating and promotion of educational programs such as exhibitions and lectures.

The Brickellian, released West Encounters East, a documentary film by Stella M. Holmes, in March 2013. The film explores the themes of immigration, alienation and assimilation through the works of Japanese-Brazilian artists, descendants of a century-old diaspora that has given São Paulo, Brazil, the largest Japanese population outside Japan. After its debut on WPBT2 in South Florida, it had more than 280 showings on public television channels nationwide, and was screened as an official selection at a number of film festivals. The second film, West Encounters East, The Fragility of Tradition, is now in production.

The Brickellian is a fine-arts advisory firm provides curatorial expertise and the staging of art-related events for individual collectors and corporate or residential environments. It specializes in modern and contemporary works of fine art, photography, and installations created by emerging and mid-career artists throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia, and India. Our global experience, relationships, and resources enable our team to participate in international art fairs and to procure works of art for our clients through private channels and secondary markets, as well as from pieces created by artists represented by The Brickellian.

The Brickellian also curates and promotes educational programs such as exhibitions and lectures. A recent example is “Contemporary Kōgei Styles in Japan”, an exhibition at Morikami Museum and Gardens in Delray Beach, Florida, organized by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Consulate General of Japan, Miami, and the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens with the collaboration of Brickellian Founder and President Stella M. Holmes.
